A Message from the President of Spiritual Awakening Spiritualist Center
Dear Members and Friends, As the cooler season is approaching (thank heavens), I hope you are all doing well. I recently returned from Bournemouth in the United Kingdom after a 3-week vacation there. One of the weeks was spent at the Arthur Findley College at Stansted Hall, which is the Spiritualist National Union's headquarters. During the year they have various courses, and I was fortunate enough to attend the J.V. Trust week (July 29th to August 5th) which is when U.K churches select a member from some of their churches to attend for a week's education in one of half a dozen class subjects they teach. I decided to take the Philosophy and Intuition class which I thoroughly enjoyed. I plan to share everything I learned in the workshops we have planned this fall. I spent some great quality time with Al and Geoff Potts (the twins) who also attended J.V. Trust week at Stansted. Alan, Mark, and Gregory also made the pilgrimage to the U.K. for J.V. Trust week, and a great time was had by all. Now that I'm back home, there has been tons of work to catch up on, so the vacation is well and truly over. There are lots of things happening in the next few months which I have shared below in "What's Around the Corner" Please check it out. We are thankful for your support of our Spiritualist Center. this month: Soulful SUNDAYS will be featured occasionally in our program of events during the year. They are structured to enable our members and congregation to come together and celebrate Spirit with personally chosen readings, poems, spiritual quotes, music etc. which has significant meaning to the individual. Chico is also famous for his automatic writing where he would channel the departed loved ones and have them write letters to the sitters. One thing people need to know about his extraordinary gifts was the he was clinically blind and required multiple surgeries on his eyes. To write the letters and later books is a great accomplishment from a man with limited education and sight. His letters were unique because they were usually written in the handwriting of the deparrted, some letters were even written in foreign languages that Chico did not know. It is estimated he wrote over 10,000 letters in his life time for grieving believers. In
1979, one of his letters was used to free a man from murder charges.

He often discussed his spiritual mentor Emmanuel, a spirit who helped direct his gifts and connect him to other spirits including Jesus. Despite the ridicule and criticism by the Christian groups, Chico often discussed Jesus in his inspirational messages as he traveled Europe and the United States in the 1930s. Chico was also known for his prophecy. He predicted his death, predicting he would pass on a great day with much celebration so not to bring sorrow to others. He died on June 30th, 2002 when Brazil had just won its 50th World Cup.
SPIRITUALISM AND SPIRITUALISTS - What we Believe:
Life is a game but only you can be responsible for your words and actions. Spirit will never compel you to take the right or the wrong way, the decision has always to be yours. There are so many distractions in life which can lead us in the way of destruction, but we are the only ones who can decide whether to be influenced by the mind or to go within and seek the spiritual response. This school of learning which we have entered into in the physical incarnation can be influenced by the power of prayer, or listening to the inner self. No one else can solve your problems, but you, though there are many who would try to lead you astray with their bad thoughts or actions. Personal responsibility gives each and everyone of us a choice, either to make the right decision or to go down the route of destruction. For we are all creating the character which will eventually take us into the next phase of life. Will it be a worthy character who will be happy with the level of consciousness that we arrive in, or will we be disappointed at the lack of a positive decision? No one can live our life for us and no one can change our destiny, except ourselves. Each one of us can decide the pattern of our life, but whether we take the right road in this life, it is totally down to us to decide. We can only do the best that we can. Let us decide. Written

He tried many different therapies over many years, but it was only when he met Lionel Logue, a speech therapist, that he truly began to make progress. Logue did not have a medical degree, but had worked as an elocution coach in the theater and had worked with shell-shocked soldiers after World War I. Through a variety of techniques and much hard work, Albert learns to speak in such a way so as to make his impediment a minor problem and deliver a flawless speech heard around the world by radio when the U.K. declared war on Nazi Germany in 1939.
